Only You can do You
Only you can do you! Only you can do what God called you to do in the way that God desires it to be done. Now, will God use someone else if you refuse? Yes, He absolutely will. Why? Because God will not deny His people what He is trying to bring them but you are the one He desires for a specific purpose, don’t force someone else to step into your spot.
God seeks out and shows up to Moses in the form of a flame of glory that appeared to be a burning bush. In this moment God is revealing Moses' true purpose to him. I don’t know about you but I would think if God started talking to me from a burning bush I’m not going to argue His point with Him!
It’s time for Moses’ destiny to be activated and Moses' response is pure panic at this point! One excuse after another. Paraphrasing his response to realizing the task God has laid out before him in Exodus 3:13-14, "who me? who am I? they won't listen? they won't follow me? I stutter, I'll be mocked for my speech." Moses even asked in Exodus 4:13 "Oh my Lord, I pray You, send by the hand of [some other] whom You will [send]." (amp) Moses did not want to be the one. Please, please send anyone else but me, he was afraid.
Each excuse Moses comes up with God has a comforting, encouraging response. Again, paraphrasing "you can do this, I created you, I know your weakness but I'm still asking you, tell them I sent you, tell the elders what I have said and they will believe and obey your voice" (Exodus 3:18)
Moses still waivers, he is so overwhelmed by the seemingly impossible call before him. It has always stood out to me that Moses refused to trust that God would really put the words in his mouth (after God said He would in Exodus 3:11.) Moses refusal to stand fully in his place caused Aaron to be used for something God never intended him to do but God used Aaron momentarily I believe to show Moses he was the one for the job.

God took away every excuse Moses had accept this one. He would let this one of the speech play out and play out it did. God actually sent Aaron into the wilderness to meet Moses. When Moses and Aaron return to Egypt Aaron is the one that speaks but something transpires over time and we see that Moses is the one standing confidently in front of Pharaoh making the demands for freedom for the Israelites, stepping into the boldness and confidence of HIS calling not Aaron's. I believe God allowed Aaron to speak for Moses until Moses faith was built up to a level of confidence that God was going to do what He said He would do through him. Aaron helped escort Moses to position BUT there was a point for Moses to step up and do what God intended him to do!
In the end, Moses and the people were victorious and God's promise was fulfilled!
Don't try to be Aaron where you are supposed to be Moses and, on the flip side, don't try to be Moses where you are supposed to be Aaron!
