Did I Hear That Right, Did I See That Right?
Over and over I keep hearing from the Lord “Those who have ears to hear let them hear! Those who have eyes to see let them see!” My goodness my goodness.
If we call ourselves believers we need to be able to hear what the Lord is saying in order to see things how we need to see them!
I beg you, do not let your hearts grow dull which in turn causes your ears to become hard of hearing and then your eyes to close. We cannot allow this to happen in our lives but it is most definitely a ploy of the enemy because he knows if we hear with our ears then we will most definitely be seeing also with our eyes what the Lord is saying and doing in this critical hour. When we can both hear and see in the spiritual we turn our hearts to the Lord and in response He heals us and in the overflow He heals our land! This is the promise Acts 28:27 speaks of.
When we are in rebellious times to the things of the Lord, a rebellious house so to speak, as in Ezekiel’s day, ears that do not hear and we will have eyes that do not see because of rebellion in our heart to God’s ways.
Father help us! Draw us in to you. We need and desire your understanding. We are desperate for your understanding. We know without your understanding, without your revelation, without your vision, we will have ears that do not hear and eyes that do not see. Open our ears to your Word, and the eyes of our heart to your plans and purpose in this very moment we are in!
When we look at Matthew 13 verses 9-16 below we must understand that when Jesus spoke in parables He was trying to get His listeners to hear from a different perspective, in a different way. They (the crowds of listeners) presumed they knew all they needed to know and had all the insight they needed to have but they did not and Jesus in His loving-kindness and His mercy was trying to help them to see and hear truth.
When we walk daily with the Lord we are given a more intimate look into His heart which reveals His truths and His mysteries to us. BUT if we approach the Lord with an unteachable spirit then we remain with an unreachable spirit. However, if we listen to and approach the Lord with a teachable spirit (a teachable heart) we will receive more and more understanding from Him because we have yielded our truth to His truth.
It will help to understand most people aren’t searching for truth they are searching for validation of their perspective of truth. Only God can cause these scales to fall from people’s eyes just as he did to Paul (while he was still Saul) on the road to Damascus. I encourage you to pray over every citizen of our Nation at the very reading of these words to have ears to hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying, to have eyes to see what the Spirit of the Lord is doing and that scales would drop from the eyes of the deceived that think (just as Paul did) they are doing the right thing and even on behalf of God when they are not, they are in deception (just as Paul was).
Let’s be the ones v. 16 below talks about “But blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear.” Why is this so important? If we can see and hear what the Spirit of the Lord desires us to see and to hear we will never be deceived by false truths.
I want to take just a moment longer and talk about the parable of the sower and the seed that can be found in Mark 4:13-20. Jesus, using this parable, points out the three different types of hearers that exist...
- Those that hear the Word yet do not allow it to take root. Why not? They are lured in by the world, by selfish desires, by distractions and desires of comfort. They desire to know God more so they initially listen but their desire for self is greater and the seeds of the Word do not take root and truth is not established.
- Those that hear the Word but then allow the difficulties of life to rob them of the truth they once knew. These hearers become consumed by what is before them and yield their hearts to the difficulties they find themselves in instead of leaning in to the Lord and His truths and His promises to all of us that trust in the Lord with all our heart and refuse to lean on our own understanding as Proverbs 3 says.
- Those that hear the Word AND open their hearts to receive and understand the Word. These hearers press into God’s truths, seeking and pursuing, regardless of distractions and lusts that knock on their front door, regardless of difficulties that ultimately will show up. These hearers are the ones transformed by the truth of the Word of God. These hearers will produce fruit in their lives and will not be deceived in very deceptive times.
Few are willing to be hearer #3. It is a difficult path of pursuit but the rewards of riches and treasures of heavenly secrets are oh so worth it.
I want to urge you today that whenever you see in the Word of God Jesus saying “He who has ears to hear, let him hear,” pay close attention. He’s using a megaphone and saying “listen up, read this again, decipher this, understand this, this is something you don’t want to miss!”
I charge you today, regardless of anything you think you know, toss it aside and ask the Lord to show you what you need to see and to fine tune your ears for anything you need to hear differently. This will challenge each of us in different areas but if we will humble ourselves to say “I may have missed it, show me God the truth of this hour,” He most definitely will be faithful to do so.
Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy. Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give. ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. (Isaiah 55:1-3)
