The Great Exchange

Forgiveness is not minimizing the hurts in your life, it is REFUSING to hold on to them anymore. What we've been through in our lives matters. Forgiveness is not minimizing your hurt, it is not erasing your experience, it is not exposing yourself again to the same situation. Forgiveness is not an option. We must bring our hearts through the process of forgiveness. Forgiveness is healing, it is necessary for us, it does affect every relationship in our lives, those that currently exist and those that are to come.

Unforgiveness for past hurts can handicap you in your future possibilities. Sometimes we make forgiveness about the other person. Do they deserve it? Are they even sorry? Have they sought our forgiveness? NONE OF THAT MATTERS! Freedom comes in realizing that forgiveness is about releasing you, it's about making room in your heart for other things, for real relationship with other people, for a real relationship with God.

Forgiving others starts a healing process in our hearts and that healing is deeply personal. There's an initial healing that takes place and then sometimes God comes back around for a deeper work, a deeper healing that must take place for us to go forth. Forgiveness is freedom you don’t want to miss out on. 

Let God do what he's trying to do in your heart. Ask Him for the strength and the grace to walk out the process He's begun in you. Don't just go through the motions but surrender your hearts to the Great Physician and open the door of your heart to Him! You will never regret starting and completing this journey. 

God wants to give us beauty for our ashes but if we're unwilling to give Him our ashes then He can't release the beauty into our lives.  There is a GREAT EXCHANGE that can take place IF you are willing! Isaiah 61 tells us there can be beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, praise for heaviness, comfort and consolation for those who mourn. See we give Him the ugly thing and we receive in exchange the beautiful thing. I promise you it is worth the journey.

For some reason God has highlighted different months to me in different years. What is a Good Marriage?

What's a good marriage? How would you define it in your mind? Is it a spouse that makes you "happy." What is making you happy? Is it meeting your every desire and whim? Is that a good spouse? I beg to differ. I believe a good spouse is one that, yes, knows your desires, knows your likes, knows your wants and from time to time randomly surprises you with such. I see (mostly wives) post that they have the "best" husband in the WHOLE world. Really?? That's a pretty big role to fill and yet an expectation that especially young brides place on their husbands. This statement is usually made after their husband has "made them happy" about something. I don't believe there is any "best in the whole world" husband out there. I believe he or she is the best for YOU even in the most when he or she is not giving into your tantrums and/or hissy fits. A good spouse challenges us in our weak areas. God’s Righteousness vs. Our Inability

Jesus covers us BUT He doesn’t excuse us. We have all sinned, yes, we have all fallen short, yes. (Romans 3:23) We’ve seen the pictures of Jesus being the bridge connecting our inability to God’s righteousness making us the righteousness of God. Jesus covered us so we CAN become the righteousness of God by remaining IN HIM. (2 Cor. 5:19) Does Jesus covering us say go do what you want, be what you want with no regard as long as you have accepted Jesus into your heart you’re good, He has you covered? If the answer is yes then we’re saying repentance, surrender and obedience aren’t required when we know biblically they are.  Philippians 2:12 tells us it’s important to continue in obedience AND to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. And, of course there’s Romans 6:15 that asks a question and answers it for us...If God’s grace covers us can we continue in sin and then answers with a certainly not.
