Are You Expecting?

In Psalm 5:3 David calls out to God saying “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly.” In David’s morning prayers, he releases his heart to the Lord, his wants, his needs, his inner desires and then he watches expectantly, with an expectation, that God will do something.

David has an expectation and that expectation will be met. A lot of times, we may pray, we may petition the Lord but then we go about our day WITHOUT a real expectation that God will actually respond to our heart’s cry.

There’s a difference between watching and waiting. Waiting can bring weariness whereas watching includes hope and expectancy that something is about to be produced. Watching puts a demand on us to leave our spiritual eyes open to look beyond natural circumstances in our life and trust that God did indeed hear the cry of our heart and He is going to respond.

Let’s flip this over...God is also watching us with expectation. He is watching us fight off weariness, He is watching us fight off discouragement, He is watching us dig our heels in a little deeper to His faithfulness and our actions most certainly will not go unrewarded by Him.

God is watching our faithfulness to His faithfulness! Let that one right there sink in. God is watching our faithfulness to His faithfulness.

It is only when we keep our vision focused on what God has promised us that we will have 20/20 vision (CLARITY.) Ask God to show you what you need to see in this season. Usually He will give us just enough of a glimpse into what our future holds to keep us watching expectantly to all He has for us.

Don’t sow the seed of a prayer and then be too lazy to watch with expectancy for the very fulfillment, the harvest that will come from that seed of prayer sown. See, there is a preparation that goes along with expectation. An expectant mother prepares, she readies herself, she readies her home. Why? Because she is expecting and within herself has full assurance that a baby will indeed come forth from her body and she will carry that baby into the place she has readied for it. It is the same in the spiritual, if you are expecting, if you are watching and expecting, you are reading yourself in full assurance that God’s promises will indeed come forth and you will carry said promises into the very place you have readied for them!

Just like a woman expectant with child knows when she is getting close but never knows the exact moment her child comes forth it is the same with you and I, we know we are getting close but we do not know the exact moment our promise will break forth.

Keep watching, keep expecting, keep preparing and ALWAYS remain faithful to His faithfulness!
